Birds in the Woods: Music
Going Home
It’s never dark in this city
It’s never ever still
It’s never quiet in this city
But from the eyes of God atop the hill
It’s just miles of earth and miles of steel
Atop this tower sits you and I
Noting how everything seems so still
And the ocean is not so far, far, far away
There’s a lady in the street down there
A man’s about to pass her by
Sees a wealth of experience in her eyes
Doesn’t stop to say hello
People don’t got the time
Swinging from vine to vine
Glass and steel scrapes this sky
Apes in their man made city
Just miles of earth and miles of steel
Atop this tower sits you and I
Noting how everything seems so still
As the ocean grows so far, far, far away
Deepest of red as we watch the sun fading
And the buildings set beside him
A thousand thousand thousand lights
I watch them all become dim
It was kind of quiet today
And I was quite surprised
The passing cars became chirping birds
And I know that I am home
Just miles of earth and miles of hills
Atop this world sits you and I
See how the trees still speak our names
The Oceans just so far, far, far, away
